The flower Garland at Cotehele in the Great Hall is an annual event visitors have been enjoying since the 1950s – Throughout December the magnificent floral decoration (boasting 32,000 flowers!) will be on display. Moor 2 Sea holiday cottages are perfectly situated just inside Cornwall, to many National Trust houses and gardens: Lanhydrock, Cotehele, Anthony House, Mount Edgcumbe and Saltram are just a few you should visit. We’d love to add any photos of your favourite days out to our gallery page, so please feel free to email any you’d like included.
Blooming Marvellous Flowers in Cornwall
Summer has finally arrived at Moor2Sea Cornwall!
Two weeks of uninterrupted sun meant the BBQ’s were working overtime, drinks were flowing and the ice-cream draw was emptied. With temperatures hotter than LA, I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before the rich and famous descend to Costa del Tideford to soak up some summer rays.
We may currently be experiencing a drizzly spell but I’m staying positive and looking at the sliver lining…the Moor2Sea Cornwall gardens! The combination of warmth and summer showers has meant the flora and fauna nestled sleepily in the hedgerows has burst into colour and tripled in size. The country lanes and coastal paths surrounding Moor2Sea Cornwall are a riot of colour. The fields have a look of Monet about them, with delicate blue Flax flowers and sunshine yellow blooms of Rapeseed.
A walk with Joe, our Cocker Spaniel, in the early morning sunshine is a delight. With a wide variety of flowers and endless fields for us both to explore the routine speed-walk, that often takes 15 minutes, has begun to take considerably longer, with us often discovering new paths and trails along the way.
Keeping on top of the garden and lawns has also been a decidedly longer process than expected. All be it a very pleasurable one. The cottage gardens are in full bloom moving from the Snowdrops and Bluebells of May, to the sweet smelling Jasmin, Rosemary and Lavender of June. On the flip side the grass just keeps on growing, and growing, and growing…thankfully Phil’s assigned to that job, so that’s one less thing i have to worry about! Or is it?

Dog Walks Always End in the Pub
Cutcrew Lane and the surrounding areas are overflowing with wild flowers, from Bluebells to Buttercups, Foxgloves to Honeysuckle, it’s a delight to the nose, as well as the eyes, and makes dog walks a treat for both owner and animal.
The Gardens of Moor2Sea Cornwall are maturing well and bursting with colour, there’s something new coming into flower almost daily. The sunshine and light spring showers in recent weeks have meant the grass is also growing in abundance, which makes us wonder whether we continue spending hours on the lawn mower or opt for what is definitely my favourite option…a goat!
As a family of dog-lovers we also have our own bundle of fluff called Joe. He’s a 4 year old Working Cocker Spaniel, with a never-ending supply of energy, ready to be walked day or night, come rain or shine. With a beautiful round trip walk on our door-step, and the half way stop off being our award winning local pub, The Rod and Line, its impossible to refuse him a walk.
The Rod and Line has been named in the ‘Top 10 Pubs in Britain‘ by The Guardian, and appears in the ‘25 Pubs You Must Drink in Before You Die‘ by BuzzFeed. The food is outstanding, and there are regular top quality local bands drawing in people from far and wide, as well as your regular Tideford locals.
There’s still some availability in the cottages over the run-up to June, so don’t hesitate to contact us for further enquiries.
