There is always Moor 2 Do in Cornwall and May is such a beautiful time of year to discover all it has to offer. Our guest’s have enjoyed endless memorable days out, embracing great local experiences and traditions.

Just a 30 minute drive north and you can be gliding through the trees on a zip-wire, challenging yourself on an obstacle course 50ft in the air, or taking a leap of faith from a platform in the sky, all found at the Tamar Trails Centre.

This wonderful venue also consists of a number of trails for mountain bikers, runners or dog walkers, with varying lengths and intensities, a family fun day out is guaranteed.

 Lostfest (15th May): This eclectic mix of events held annually in Lostwithiel is home to over 100 arts, crafts, food stall and demonstrations, accompanied by all day street music performed by various local bands. (30 minute drive from Moor2Sea Cornwall)

Fal River Festival (30th May – 5th June): Celebrating life on the river Fal, this is a community festival encompassing 150 events including a fish festival, gig racing, swimming, wildlife walks and lots more. (50 minute drive from Moor2Sea Cornwall)

Bude & Stratton Folk Festival (27th – 30th May): Held in the picturesque surroundings of Bude, this small, friendly, welcoming district of North Cornwall opens it’s arms to hundreds of visitors for the final May bank holiday, showcasing musical artists new and old. (1 hour drive from Moor2Sea Cornwall)

Saltash Regatta and Waterside Festival (11th-12th June): This festival is just on our doorstep and hosts a huge variety of events such as Gig racing, local bands, street entertainers and children rides. Market stalls will be displaying some of the freshest local produce, both food and drinks, and there will also be the opportunity to browse market stalls exhibiting Cornish silver, leather and wood crafts. (15 minute drive from Moor2Sea Cornwall)

RNLI Rescue Display, Looe

A May Bank Holiday in Cornwall has something for everyone. This year we have  the famous Love Festival of the Sea on the 1st of May, celebrating 150 years of the RNLI in Looe. This will include air-sea rescue and helicopter displays, fishing trips crabbing competitions and many delicious cooking demonstrations, involving wonderful local cornish seafood.

 Other local events over the May bank holiday in Cornwall:

Trevithick Day (Sat 30th April): An annual celebration displaying an impressive range of vintage steam powered vehicles roaring through the streets of Cambourne.

Obby Oss Day (Mon 2nd May): A world renowned festival with over 30,000 expected to descend on the little town, there’ll be singing, dancing, fireworks and plenty of traditional cornish food and drinks for the whole family to enjoy.

The Transat Bakerly Yacht Race

Transat Bakerly Yacht Race (Mon 2nd May): For all those water-sports loving/speed fanatics, the world famous transatlantic race will start at approximately 2.30pm from Plymouth Sound. Additional festivities accompanying this exciting race include a Jazz Festival, air and firework display ( 9:15pm), street entertainment, food, competitions and prizes.



British National Surfing Championships – Watergate Bay, Cornwall


English National Surfing Championships (Sat 30th April – Mon 2nd May): Watch the next generation of young surfers battle to knock established competitors off the top spots  for national titles. This annual event at Watergate Bay is a firmly established competition on the English surfing calendar, with 14 divisions including Open, Longboard, Masters, Veterans , Ladies and Juniors.

Port Eliot Dog Festival and Whippet Tea Party (Sat 7th May): A family event, also enjoyed by our four legged friends. Last year over 700 people attended with hundreds of dogs. There’ll be classes for dogs to enter such as ‘Dog who most resembles owner’, as well as afternoon tea, canapés, treasure hunts and musical entertainment. Only a 10 minute drive from Moor2Sea Cornwall the Port Eliot estate is easily accessible and we’d be delighted to welcome dogs and their well behaved owners. The Dog Festival is being held in support of the incredible charity Children’s Hospice South West.
