A Fantastic First Year at Moor2Sea Cornwall
We have been delighted to meet so many lovely people from the UK, Europe, America and Australia, with all guests commenting on how much they’ve enjoyed staying in our luxury cottages. With numerous beaches, gardens, restaurants and moorland only minutes away there’s never a dull moment at Moor2Sea Cornwall. It’s been a spectacular year in which the lawns have greened, flower beds have bloomed and the Top Gear Trio (our 3 Gloucester old spot pigs) have run wild – occasionally quite literally.
Food and drink venues have been on the top of the list for our guests, who have raved over the local pub The Rod and Line, loaded their BBQ’s with high quality meat from Paul Brays butchers (Tideford) and fine dined at the many wonderful restaurants in the area including The View, The Blue Plate and River Cottage (Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s restaurant). There’s also an assortment of cookery schools in the area, such as the famous Rick Stein’s Cookery School in Padstow, that dedicate a whole day to cooking some mouth-watering dishes with fresh local produce.
The beautiful beaches of Whitsand Bay, which makes up part of the South West Costal Path, have been enjoyed by the majority of our Moor2Sea Cornwall guests, whilst others were drawn to the meandering rivers along the Tamar Valley and the rugged open moorlands of Bodmin and Dartmoor. Families have driven, cycled and walked their way around this area of natural beauty, with plenty to do come rain or shine. Adrenalin quarry always proves a popular attraction for the children, with zip-lines, a giant-swing and coasteering adventures.
Music and Literary Festivals, such as Port Eliot Festival, Boardmasters, Run to the Sun, and the famous Eden Sessions, form a significant part of the Cornish Calendar. There’s also Looe Music Festival, a music event on our doorstep featuring the likes of Bryan Ferry, Seth Lakeman and Joules Holland.
Many of Cornwall’s gardens, such as The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trewithen Gardens and The Eden project. These offer a variety of styles from woodland gardens to landscaped parklands and everything in-between. The historic houses of the National Trust have also proved to be key attractions – especially Cothele House and Gardens, Mount Edgcumbe and Antony House (the latest setting for the film Alice In Wonderland). There have also been a number of TV programmes filmed nearby such as Poldark (Charlestown) and Doc Martin (Port Isaac), which attract visitors from all over Europe.
All in all a great first year in which this family business has learnt a great deal and have had a lot of fun meeting interesting people from across the globe. We look forward to our second year at Moor2Sea Cornwall, as we aim to continue to develop and enhance our guests holiday experience in Cornwall, ensuring lifetime holiday memories for all.
